I try a bunch of perfumes like Floral, Oriental, sometimes Woody, and I often switch them up as per my mood. Some fragrances become more favorite than others, but here I have listed down the best long lasting perfumes for women and best smelling perfumes for women that I would keep for the rest of my life.
Here I will list the most popular women’s perfume that I recommend every woman to try out in 2020. I will link all of them below for you to try. So let’s get right into it.
Table of Contents
Matiere Noire, a Louis Vuitton perfume for women is my first and foremost favorite. It’s one of the best smelling women’s perfumes. Matiere Noire plums intangible depths with a journey through the darkest most precious woods, namely patchouli, and agarwood. It’s one of the long-lasting perfumes for women. The agarwood’s animal notes are intensified by blackcurrant and contrasted with the whiteness of narcissus and jasmine.
Fragrance Family: Oriental Woody
Top Notes: Watery notes, Blackcurrant syrup
Base Notes: Benzoin, Incense, Patchouli, Agarwood (OUD)
I love Matiere Noire because every ingredient in this perfume is made out of real ingredients. It stays on your skin. I took showers every night, but the next day if I wore this, I will still smell it. You feel it in your clothes for days. Every time I wear this, everyone asks me what are you wearing? It smells so good.
It is pretty sustainable; once you finish the perfume, you can refill it, which means you don’t keep buying new flasks. I love that the top of the bottle is like a magnet. Everything feels so luxurious about this perfume. Matière Noire is a unique occasion perfume, but you could wear it almost every day when you’re in the summer. It is a bit pricey than all the other branded perfumes for women on the list. Yet it is one of the best fragrances for women, and I just love this perfume.
Bvlgari Jasmin Noir Eau De Parfum
Jasmin Noir, a Bvlgari perfume for women is such a masculine but feminine perfume at the same time. I love the vibe this perfume gives. It’s one of the most popular perfumes for women.
- Fragrance Family: Floral Woody
- Top Notes: Gardenia, Green Sap
- Heart: Jasmine Sambac, Satiny Almon
- Base Notes: Patchouli, Cashmeran Woods
Jasmin Noir is a flower of the imagination; it is white immaculate and conveys pure mystery revealing the intriguing sensuality of nightfall. Jasmin Noir is among the long-lasting perfumes for women. It is a precious floral woody fragrance with ambery accents centred around the jasmine flower’s real perfumery jewel. Jasmin Noir is something that I honestly wear all year round, but only in the evenings and in the winter or fall I wear it during the day.
La Nuit Trésor Eau de Toilette
La Nuit Tresor, a Lancome Perfume for women is my favorite one from this brand. I don’t like any other Lancome scent that much as this one, I think this is the best young women’s perfume.
Top notes: Wild Blackberry Accord, Fusing Citrus
Middle notes: Rose Damascena Essence, White Floral Bouquet
Drydown notes: Vanille Tahitensis Absolu, Patchouli Essence
A new rose joins a Tresor rosary, revealing an opulent heart with unexpected creamy vanilla. The woody notes of the patchouli are enhanced by musky vanilla, showing the fragrance’s essential and addictive signature. La Nuit Tresor is an excellent addition to your perfume collection. It’s one of the long-lasting perfumes for women. I would recommend La Nuit Tresor for fall and winter.
Sì FIORI Eau de Parfum
Sì Fiori, a Giorgio Armani perfume for women is the sweet floral fragrance with luminous notes of Mandarin, blackcurrant nectar, and of course, it has warm vanilla. As soon as this fragrance opens up, you will get the velvety creaminess coming from vanilla. It has this underpinning to the composition that gives it depth and character. Si Fiori is among the long-lasting perfumes for women.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Scent Type: Warm Florals
Key Notes: Blackcurrant, Orange Blossom, Vanilla
Sì Fiori is a lovely, sensual, feminine fragrance. Suppose you are looking for something a little bit sweet but not angel sweet if you are looking for something that is a bit on the sensual, musky side. Sì Fiori manages to do that.
You can wear Sì Fiori dressed up as well as dressed down. It’s not overly simple that it makes it casual, but it’s also not too complicated that it makes it unwearable, so it’s a delicate balance. Sì Fiori is a winter to spring scent, but you can wear it any time of the year.
FlowerBomb Eau De Parfum
Viktor & Rolf introduced FlowerBomb as an oriental fragrance. A bouquet of hundreds of Sambac Jasmine, thousands of freesia, and millions of rose petals enriched by an addictive scent of patchouli and vanilla.
Fragrance Family: Warm & Spicy
Scent Type: Warm & Sweet Gourmands
Key Notes: Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Patchouli
I think that’s what did it for me; it’s the patchouli and vanilla in the fragrance, it smells nice and soft. When you spray it on, it wakes you up immediately. It gets soft once it’s on your skin, and then the vanilla and patchouli come out, which I love.
FlowerBomb made itself to be one of the popular perfumes for women. I would wear this all year round but especially in the summer and spring. It is light, so it goes very well.
Donna Born In Roma Eau de Parfum
Born In Roma, a Valentino perfume for women is an entirely relatively new perfume, this came out in 2019. It is a Couture fragrance made of three jasmine flowers, and quartz blended with bourbon vanilla. Born In Roma is twisted with a cool facet of pink pepper, and a woody overdose, giving this Couture feminine fragrant a modern edge. Born In Roma is also one of the long-lasting perfumes for women. The bottle is designed and inspired by Roman architecture, and I like that too.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Scent Type: Warm Florals
Key Notes: Blackcurrant, Jasmine Grandiflorum, Bourbon Vanilla
When you first spray it on your body, it smells delightful. If you let it sit for a couple of minutes, it will dry onto the skin in the more bourbon vanilla fragrance, so it gets soft and sensual afterwards. When you first spray it on, don’t judge it directly, give it a few minutes, and you’ll love it. I recommend this for the fall to winter.
ILLICIT Eau de Parfum
ILLICIT, a Jimmy Choo perfume for women has been in my repertoire of perfumes for years. It is very soft and smells like such an innocent girl. It’s one of the long-lasting perfumes for women. It is feminine and sensual with top notes of ginger and orange. At heart, it has rose and jasmine. It’s finished with bass notes of honey, amber, and sandalwood.
- Top notes: Ginger while the heart is made of rose
- Base notes: Amber accord and honey
ILLICIT is light, sensual, and it feels expensive and luxurious. Perfume’s sweetness is just subtle and mellow. The fragrance lasts about 5 to 6 hours. ILLICIT is perfect for the spring-summer.
LIBRE Eau de Parfum
LIBRE, a Yves Saint Laurent perfume for women is one of my favorite winter scents. If I go out on a cold day, this is what I would wear. It is a very sensual and long-lasting perfume for women. LIBRE is the first feminine perfume with the masculine touch of lavender because lavender is not something they usually put in women’s perfume.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Scent Type: Warm Florals
Key Notes: Lavender Essence, Orange Blossom, Musk Accord
This perfume has a combined sensual touch of Moroccan orange blossom with lavender. When you first spray it, you do get that little hit of citrus. I’ve been wearing it all day, and I’d say for the first maybe five or six hours, I could still smell it. It also lasted on my clothing as well, but it still isn’t a heavy or a strong fragrance at all. If you like lavender, I would recommend this perfume.
Tiffany Eau de Parfum
Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum is the Classic one, the first one they came out with.
- Top note: Vert de mandarine
- Middle note: Noble iris
- Base notes: Patchouli and musk
The top notes of vibrant Mandarin unfold into an elegant heart of the precious iris flower. The fragrance dries down to a luxurious finish on the skin with nuances of patchouli, enveloped in subtle musky notes. So it starts as a fresh floral fragrance with a hint of mandarine, and then it ends up being very soft and powdery.
The packaging is lovely. It is a floral musk scent, but it’s still a little chilly. Tiffany is the kind of perfume I would go for During the spring.
’REPLICA’ Lipstick On
Lipstick On, a Maison Margiela perfume for women. What I like about this women’s perfume brand is, their branding is so simple. Lipstick on is an immersion into the intimate atmosphere of a boudoir, through sensual notes of vanilla bourbon, absolute tonka bean, a beautiful trail of orange flower, pure patchouli, neroli, and Irish support. Lipstick On is more of a stronger scent. I would only wear this in the winter; it’s not something I’d wear every day.
Fragrance Family: Florals
Scent Type: Powdery Florals
Key Notes: Heliotrope Accord, Iris Concrete, Tonka Bean Absolute

How To Choose The Right Perfume – A Beginner’s Buying Guide
When it comes to finding the right signature perfume for your body, people often get confused with so many options available in the market. Understand The Types of Perfume: (The Fragrance VOCAB)
You should understand the fragrance terms. Knowing the standard terms in the world of fragrance will help you narrow down what exactly you want in a perfume, so first of all, let’s tackle Eau De Toilette versus Eau De Parfum.
Eau De Toilette:
- Light Fragrance
- Less Concentration
- Evaporates Quickly
Eau De Toilette is going to be lighter; it has less concentration of perfume oils. You can be more generous with it as you’re spraying it on, but overall, it evaporates from the skin more quickly. Its top notes characterize Eau De Toilette. This is a less concentrated scent.
Eau De Toilette is usually a more affordable option, but you will need to reapply if you want the scent to last longer. I wear Eau De Toilette during summer, because it’s lighter, and they perform best in the summer.
Eau De Parfum:
- Strongest Fragrance
- More Concentrated
- More Expensive
Eau De Parfum has more concentration of perfume oils. You’re going to have a bit more of a layered scent with Eau de Parfum. It’s more characterized by the middle notes. It will last longer and come off more potent than an Eau De Toilette, but it is still a bit of a diluted version of just straight Parfum or Perfume.
When a product is labelled Perfume or Parfum, it will have the highest concentrations of perfume oils, and it’s usually going to be more expensive as well. The list of long-lasting perfumes for women in this article is all Eau de Parfum family. You do not need to apply perfumes as much as the others, perfumes last the longest, and evaporates the slowest.
It’ll take a bit longer to get to the main vibe of its fragrance. When I’m looking for women’s perfume best sellers, I tend to stick to the Eau De Parfum region. It’s a bit more affordable than straight-up perfume, but it’ll last longer, and it has more layers in the scent than Eau De Toilette.back to menu ↑
What Are The Notes in a Perfume:
What do those perfume notes mean? Usually, in the description of a perfume, that consists of top notes, middle notes, and base notes.
The Top Notes:
- First impression
- Evaporates quickly
- Don’t last long
The top notes are what you’re going to smell right away; they are your first impression of the fragrance, but they also evaporate quickly, and they’re not going to last very long.
The Middle Notes:
- Richer scents
- Longer lasting
- Make up the primary mood of the fragrance.
The middle notes of a fragrance are going to be a bit richer than the top notes, and they will last a bit longer as well. Typically, they’re more mellow in the perfume’s main vibe, but they’re not going to reveal themselves until the top notes disappear.
The Base Notes:
- Support middle notes
- Heavier scents
- Reveal themselves 30+ min after application
The base notes support the middle notes; they work together to create the fragrance’s overall mood. The base notes are a bit heavier and a little bit deeper. You’ll probably see more muskiness in the base notes, and they’re not going to start revealing themselves until you’ve worn the fragrance for about 30 minutes in.
Now that you understand these basic notes, you’ll be better equipped when reading descriptions of fragrances to narrow down your choice of long-lasting perfumes for women and what you think you’ll actually like before testing them. If you have no idea what you like, just start sniffing as a starting point and keeping in mind the notes that keep coming up with the fragrances you love. You can also go to Fragrance Encyclopedia and explore each note and ingredient in a fragrance, or read reviews posted by actual perfume users.back to menu ↑
The fragrance is a Unisex: (Don’t Let This Confuse You)
My first tip would be to try as many perfumes as possible, so you can learn what your perfume taste is. Don’t just assume that you’re going to love the fragrance that’s marketed towards women because you’re a woman. I believe that perfumes are unisex; it’s just how they’re sold that makes us think otherwise. Like most things in life, marketing controls how we perceive things, and there’s no difference in that with perfume.
However, it doesn’t mean you can’t use it if you’re the opposite sex, just because it’s marketed to a man or woman. You should not tend to be drawn to masculine fragrances if you are a man, or feminine fragrances, if you are a woman, that’s what I’ve learned through trying loads and loads of perfumes. I never really became obsessed with scent, until I started to branch into the opposite sex and unisex fragrances. Don’t worry about if it’s the best sellers of women’s perfume or men, just try them all.back to menu ↑
How and Why Should You Try a Perfume Before Buying: (The Proper Way)
You should always try perfume before you buy it because scent develops differently on everyone’s skin. An example of this is opium by YSL, and black opium is also one of the best female perfumes in the world, however, on my skin, opium smells like an old lady died on me. It is the worst scent on me; in the bottle, I love it; however, it’s terrible on my skin.
Each time you try perfume, try it on the skin, because it is different for everyone, and just look up what notes are in each scent. That’s a perfect way to learn what kind of notes you like in fragrances.
When you go to a perfume counter and ask them, which would they recommend? The sales associate would usually say, what do you like? So you should be able to tell them, I like woody fragrances, I like things with patchouli or amber. I like cedarwood, etc.
So it’s right to try things on. Try to get as many samples as you can, it’s a perfect way to wear a fragrance over a few days as well, and see how it makes you feel, because you might try it on once and love it, and then not like it.
Alternatively, you could try on a perfume that you think is average, and you don’t love, and then each time you try it on or smell it, it grows on you. I had that with a few of my fragrances, an example of that would be French lover by Frederic Malle, it’s one of the long-lasting perfumes for women, and probably now on my top fragrances. I adore that scent; it might be one of my most worn since I got it, but when I first smelt it on my skin, I wasn’t in love with it. It was as I wore it through the day that I became obsessed. So that’s why I would recommend getting samples.back to menu ↑
Getting Perfume Samples: (Recommended)
I usually go up to the perfume counter, and I have some chit-chatting going with the person working at the shop. I’ll ask them what their favorite collection is, what they would recommend for me. Have some chat with them to show you’re interested in the brand, and then, I might say to them, I’ve already got perfume on today, but I would like to see how this wears on my skin, do you have any samples of it?. Let them take you through the collection, see what draws your attention, and then ask for a sample of that one.
You can see how you like the sample, wear it, and then potentially go back and buy it. I would never just turn up and be like, do you have any samples?.back to menu ↑
How Should You Spray Your Perfume:
Always spray it on your neck, once over your head, and then on your wrists. You shouldn’t rub your wrists together when you spray perfume, because you’re kind of rubbing and putting pressure on the molecules inside the fragrance. Spray on each wrist, and let it dry that way. I’m a perfume addict, so I do take it a step further than that, I do that before I dress up, and then once I’m dressed, I’ll just spritz it lightly over my clothes.
For things like coats and scarves, I would never put perfume on them because I switch up my perfume very often, so having a coat that smells like one perfume when I’m wearing another, really wouldn’t work for me. If I got scent on my scarf, I would probably have to let it air out before I wore it again.
The other types of clothes which you’re not going to wash very regularly, just because of the material, you wouldn’t spray perfume directly on such clothes or something like a t-shirt or any of your other regular jumpers. I just feel some clothes are a bit delicate to wash all the time.back to menu ↑
What do you want from your fragrance? Do you want it to be intimate, or do you want it to be robust and attention-seeking? Fragrance should be discovered, not announced. I do think perfume is a beautifully intimate thing, especially when people come close and hug you. If you want it to be attention-seeking, and get compliments on your scent, spray it all over, and it’s entirely up to you.
